Akai S 950 Gotek Bundle
We have been offering Gotek floppy emulators and SCSI solutions for many years and can draw on years of experience. We are not only specialized in storage solutions. We also have in-depth knowledge of the electronics of vintage synthesizers and samplers. So you can rest assured that we know what we are talking about.
I would therefore also like to say something about storage solutions in general. Basically, whenever SCSI is available, SCSI should also be used. Because SCSI is faster and more reliable. And of course also because it has advantages when storing large files.
Samplers with little main memory (RAM) can be well equipped with a Gotek. As the data volumes are relatively small. And the storage of 1.44 MB is long but still within the acceptable range. However, if you have one of the more modern samplers such as the EMU EMULATOR series, ESI series, AKAI S 1000, 3000, 5000, 6000 and of course the MPC series from 2000, 3000, 4000 or the Ensoniq ASR-10, ASR-X etc., it makes no sense to use a Gotek. Because it would slow down the work immensely. These samplers have from 16MB to 128MB of main memory. If you take the time it takes to save a disk as a guide, which is about 2 minutes or more per disk. So if we assume 16MB, backing up the memory takes almost 20 minutes or more, as the amount of data stored is split into 1.44MB images. If we now take a ZuluSCSI in contrast, the same process is done within 1 minute! That’s why I advise every sampler owner with SCSI to use a ZuluSCSI solution.
When buying a Gotek, make sure you buy a Gotek with an Artery AT32F435 controller. This works most reliably.
Our Gotek bundle includes the latest Gotek with the Artery AT32F435 controller!
We have put together a bundle especially for the S 950. The bundle includes a Gotek USB stick with 16GB. The USB stick contains a very extensive library that we have converted from our private sample library. Among them are many vintage and modern drum computers, a very extensive acoustic library and of course many presets of vintage analog synthesizers as a highlight.
The bundle comes as plug and play! This means that it can be installed and is immediately ready for use. Instructions are included to explain how to install and operate the Gotek.
We offer the Gotek in gray which goes very well with the gray elements of the Akai S 950 or as an alternative you can also order it in beige and black.
